Center for Leadership and Service

Community Partners

Thank you for checking out the UNT Center for Leadership and Service Website. The center is a unit of the Dean of Students Department within the Division of Student Development. UNT has over 36,000 students and 5,000 employees, making it an excellent source of volunteers. Whether you need someone with a particular skill, a volunteer for one hour a week, or a lot of bodies to staff an event, we want to help.

The University of North Texas Center for Leadership and Service serves as a connectivity resource, linking the students, faculty, and staff of UNT with the community agencies and individuals in need of volunteers. The Center for Leadership and Service sponsors events for the UNT Community, like Adopt-A-Block, Alternative Spring Break, and the BIG Event and Make a Difference Day. In addition, the center also maintains a database of community agencies and an up to date calendar of volunteer opportunities. It is our hope that every UNT student will participate in at least one community service experience before graduation.

When a student comes to the Center for Leadership and Service, he or she is asked to fill out a volunteer application, which gives us an idea about the interests of our potential student volunteers. Then, each one is given a current calendar of volunteer opportunities. While the Center for Leadership and Service staff is always available to answer questions and provide some guidance, we require the students to actually initiate their volunteer experience by contacting the individual or agency listed.

In order to create our volunteer packets, we rely on the volunteer agencies and individuals to let us know what their need is. This can be done by filling out our Request Form for Volunteers Download the latest version of Adobe Reader to view these files properly, which is available by e-mail, on-line, and in paper form. We do not guarantee volunteers! We merely advertise on your behalf about your current needs.

To help in planning some of our sponsored events, like Make A Difference Day and the BIG Event, we may contact you to see if you have any specific opportunities available. For this to work, we need up to date contact information. Please be sure to update us about phone number, e-mail, and volunteer coordinator changes!

For your records, our contact information is as follows:
